WALKING IN THE ROSE VALLEY

A 4-day trek through one of the most beautiful valleys of the ‘Grand Sud’, the Rose Valley (or M'goun Valley), nested at the foot of the High Atlas. The name refers to the colour of the mineral of which the mountains are made. This trek can be extended by several days.

Day 1: Ouarzazate - Boutaghrar (1704m)

Arrival at the airport and transfer by minibus or 4WD via El kalâa mgouna (route of 1000 Kasbahs) to Boutaghrar, the starting point of our hike where we will meet the muleteers. Overnight stay in an auberge.

Day 2: Boutaghrar – Agerzaka (1736m)

After breakfast we’ll start our trek through the valley of the M'goun river. We’ll regularly cross the river as we walk from one Berber village to the next. Overnight stay in tents or in a gîte in the village of Agerzaka.

Day 3: Agerzaka – Amskar el Fouqani (2113m)

Today we will leave the river behind us and will gradually walk up (and down), passing some higher peaks (Jbel Agerzaka (2650m) and Tine Figane (2654m)). Our next bivouac in Amskar is situated on 2000m.

Day 4: Amskar el Fouqani (2113m) – Almdoun (1755m)

After breakfast we’ll leave Amskar and climb the Asselda Pass (2200m). Via the Amskar Valley we’ll arrive at Almdoun, a very beautiful, vast plain with a few small hamlets. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 5: Almdoun – Hadida (1530m)

Beautiful day of walking in the valley between the Jbel Tadaout (2135m) and the Jbel Akhanchouch (2055m) to the village of Agouti. We’ll take a short break before climbing to the top and descending a very steep wall on the other side. We’ll follow the Valley of the M'goun river to the village of Hadida where our tour ends. Overnight stay in an auberge.

Day 6: Hadida – Ouarzazate

After breakfast transfer by minibus to Ouarzazate. Return flight or overnight stay in a hotel and return flight the next day.
